Georgia promises to no longer attempt to win back Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Georgia still considers Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories, but will not impede the access of goods produced there to the world market. Georgia refuses to force to resolve conflict with these republics and is ready to give their residents the same rights as their nationals. These are the main points of the “Strategy for the Occupied Territories” - a document that will present today in Strasbourg, the Georgian minister Timur Yakobashvili highest executive body of the Council of Europe.

On the eve of his visit to Strasbourg Timur Yakobashvili said in an interview with Radio Liberty that the strategy does not deal with status issues. That is, in his words, it aims to solve humanitarian problems and not the definition of the status of Abkhazia and South Ossetia within the Georgian state.
