The widow of the first Georgian president calls for political asylum in Germany. Her son Tsotne Gamsakhurdia is suspected of murder
The widow of the first Georgian president Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia said the pressure on her family and demands for political asylum in Germany.
“The whole world knows that the wife of Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, the man who created the fundamental basis of Georgia’s independence, are forced to leave Georgia. Therefore I think the whole world hold me” - said on Monday Archvadze journalists.
The relevant application, in which Archvadze request for asylum to the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the widow of Georgia’s first president on Monday handed over to Ambassador of Germany to Georgia Patricia Flor
Thus Archvadze hopes to be able to help his son Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, while it is in pretrial detention on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons, in the release.
Tsotne was arrested in late October on suspicion of inflicting a gunshot wound in the abdomen to his neighbor David Badzhelidze. Soon Badzhelidze and Gamsakhurdia was taken to the hospital. The first was made an urgent operation, and Gamsakhurdia, who had a head injury, provide first aid and transferred to the police station and then to the detention center. October 30 Tbilisi city court sentenced him to two months preliminary detention. He is accused of committing a crime under Article 236 (illegal purchase, possession, carrying firearms) and 19-108 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
