Georgia finally withdraws from the CIS, while preserving the most valuable

Georgia officially and permanently out of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), to finish all the legal procedures of this process, which began Aug. 12, 2008, when Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has decided to withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States in protest against Russia's "occupation" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
